My Sincere thanks to Wikipedia Authors for this info.
Before saying anything on Secularism, we have take into consideration the biggest contradiction mentioned in the last line of the above quote.
Here is the interpretation in the context of Indian Philosophy - 'Advaita'
Secularism is the cultural, spiritual and humanitarian gift by India to this always conflicting world from ancient ages, even before the advent of Christianity, Judaism, Islamism. The name of this wonderful gift is 'Advaita'. Advaita is a Sanskrit word, which is opposite to 'Dvaita' Dvaita means the difference - the difference between the two things. Dvaita shows they are not equal. So Advaita is the symbol of equality. Advaita means The Universal Oneness. According to Indian Philosophy which is globally known as Hindu Philosophy. Hinduism is a culture not religion because it has no limitations and boundaries. It is for every human being, not only human being but animals and plants too. In Ramayana the sages ask each other about even their plants "How are your plants?" Unbelievable love for environment. This comes from the principle of Advaita. Advaita teaches the oneness. We will describe this further in different chapters.
So this equality is described everywhere in Vedas, Upanishads, Shrimadbhagwadgeeta, Puranas in the language which is very easily graspable and practical in real life for the people of all the streams, from all the religions, from all the countries.
So the origin of Humanity and Equality - The Secularism starts from here - from The India.
For all people, the spiritual path is divided mainly in three types of Yogas. Yoga is basically the addition or joining of two things. So the Yoga spiritually means The joining of man with the God. It will explained be properly as we go deep in the three types of Yoga,
Gyan Yoga - The path in which Yoga is achieved by the supreme knowledge.
Bhakti Yoga- The path in which Yoga is achieved by the Devotion.
Karma Yoga - The path in which the Yoga is achieved by the Karma or practicing duties without the desire and expectation of the results.
This time we are focused on the Secularism , so now we will not go in deep with these Yogas in the spiritual context.
So the equality and the universal oneness is experienced when we achieve the true Yoga. Though it is very very difficult to achieve and live on this equality, as we start approaching this highest goal our life naturally starts to get purified and of course we start living on the equality.
Now, we see how The True Secularism is achieved by The above mentioned Different paths of Yoga. After thinking a lot on Secularism again and again, my mind came to the conclusion that it is almost impossible to achieve and live on the complete secularism without knowing the Advaita.
Without Advaita, Secularism will be just a word, as we see what is going on in India and in many countries.
Gyan Yoga - According to this path the Aatma or Soul of everything is one. So all are equal , though we have to behave according to the worldly differences but The Gyan Yogi sees the Aatma behind everybody, so that person will not make injustice the torture or anything which is against the humanity and when they feel their Aatma and Other's Aatma are the equal. They respect all religions and feel that people has the right to worship the God they have faith in or to remain agnostic and the way to worship of their choice.
Bhakti Yoga - The devotee trusts only the form of the God , they are worshiping. But when this Yoga is achieved they feel everything is just the form of their beloved The God - e.g. I worship Lord Krishna then I will experience all are the form of Him. And then how will I hurt my beloved God.
This discussion is very deep and can not be completed in one or two articles. But I think the main theme is well - expressed in the above analysis. We will have such precious visions on Indian Culture and Philosophy further more. Please share your thoughts and vision here.
P.S. : The links for the information about Christianity, Judaism, Islamism are from Wikipedia. The deep thoughts on all these from our site are not presented yet. Will try to present it.
